  • Emergencies.
  • Distress
  • Man Overboard
  • Collision
  • Grounding
  • Sinking
  • Capsize
  • Towing
  • Fire
  • Beaching
  • Anchoring
  • Dismasting

Day 2 Morning:

  • Weather
  • Radio - Types and Radio Procedures.
  • Search and Rescue.
  • Crossing Bars.
  • Manners and Customs.
  • Whipping and Splicing

Afternoon:

  • Navigation, include Rule of Twelfths and IALA System

Note:

  • The award of the Competent Crew Certificate requires attendance on practical courses C1 and C2 as well as completion of this C5 Theory Course. Please return your logbook with the completed questions to enable us to sign off the Small Craft Safety sections.
  • Knot work will be progressively covered throughout the course. Please bring your rope.
  • A multiple choice question paper covering the entire syllabus for the Small Craft Safety Certificate will be given to you to complete, to assist you in your learning.
