Testimonials

Dear Terry,

Thank you for a lovely few days away. Great food, company and sailing and as always I am reminded that there is so much to learn to be a competent, safe sailor.

Terry, you asked me the other day what I enjoyed the most and after a short time to reflect a few things come to mind, I enjoyed the navigation (although the blind navigation was in danger of doing my head in!), I enjoyed the experience of the watch system and the different challenges that sailing at night holds and I enjoyed the fact that whilst I acknowledge that I still have lots to learn I am getting to a level where I can either make my own decisions or make a valuable contribution to the decision making process.

Gunnar, before I forgot I completed the task I set myself, which was to find out what the "draught" was referring to in relation to tides on the GPS. I was talking to a friend who has a GPS plotter and he tells me on his plotter (which is not a B & S) that you set the draught for your boat and then it is used when displaying the tide graph. In his case, the line on the tide graph displays blue if it is above the draft depth and any tide depth that is to shallow for the draught is shown as red on the graph. It sounds like a plausible explanation to me! The fact that the draught was showing as 0.80 might be a red herring and it may not have been set (or someone has decided that 0.80 below the keel is sufficient clearance for Kioni).

Thanks again, Greer

PS - Terry, I'll download the photos from my camera in the next few days and send them to you. GG
