Sydney to Gold Coast Yacht Race

The Event
The Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, starts on Sydney Harbour at 1.00pm, Saturday 26 July 2008. It is the first race of the CYCA Blue Water Championship Series. The race began in 1986, has traditionally been the curtain opener for the winter northern racing circuit to Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island.
The Boat
Kioni is a Beneteau First 47.7 in YA Safety Category 1 for racing. This yacht has complete 4 Sydney to Hobart Races as well as many other campaigns. These include Gosford to Lord Howe Island Races (500nm), Sydney to Gold Coast Races (400nm), Hamilton Island and Airlie Beach Race weeks.

Join our crew in Race Week, now in its 19th year, based at Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach. A great sailing destination with many fine restaurants and it is the gateway to the magnificent Whitsunday's.
Six race days and a lay day on Monday the 18th. The course has some short races around Armit Island as well as longer races around Denman, Double Cone, Grassy, Pine Island and West Molle Island to name a few. Go to www.airliebeachraceweek.com for more info about this great event.
The Yacht - Kioni has been the Pacific Sailing School training yacht for more than 5 years for Winter Series Racing and Offshore Crew and Coastal Skipper Courses.
