Our Sunday Crews are the best
A win for Cadenza and a third for Kioni in the winter series. Another glorious winter Sunday on Sydney Harbour played host to Race 7 of the Audi Winter series.
Our Hot Crews from the mighty Cadenza and Kioni
A fresh breeze of around 20 knots blew from the south with gusts up to 25 knots. The crew having undergone 6 previous races in lighter conditions were understandably excited. We met for breakfast at the yacht club early morning to talk tactics and crew positions.
Because of the promise of stronger winds we decided people should be in the positions they have had the most training in; Dan on the bow, Mark on the mast, Susannah in the pit and a full team of grinders and trimmers including Li, Babette, Steve, Anne, Deborah, Rosmariam.
Under the watchful eye of seasoned Skipper Gunner, Sailing Master Terry, Instructor Jack and Le ander on back up and running backstay.

A combination of good, solid tactical decisions, diligent helming and fantastic crew teamwork saw Cadenza come in with a comfortable win! The crew celebrated into the evening as they should.
Kioni, pushed hard and put up a good battle with Skipper Damien at the helm and a crew of Paula, Andrew, Bruce, Gabrielle, Steve, Billy, Geoff, Linda. Kioni flew a spinnaker on the first downwind leg overtaking Cadenza near Manly. The wind had now increased to around 25 knots so to get the kite down was not easy. Cadenza with a poled out No 1 headsail rounded the mark first and quicly changed down to the No 3. With the waves threatening to break over the foredeck the crew dragged the big sail below. This paid off with Cadenza crossing the line six minutes ahead of the fleet.
